Special Services

We provide the following services:

- The after-school program includes a homework center, a computer lab, and an Internet resource center. It serves 90 grammar and high school students. Weekend activities and field trips are included. Some high school activities are collaborated with the New City YMCA, Menomonee Club, and Near North Development.

- A high school and college-mentoring program nurtures high school teens toward a college education and career. PEP provides support, advice, expertise, and resources to its participants. Since its inception, over 90% of them have entered college with about 75% receiving degrees. We also collaborates with other agencies to offer college preparation, improve their writing skills, and assist in guidance for college boards & enrollment exams. In addition, LaSalle Bank has provided funding for scholarships with specific criteria until the participants graduate.

- The Louise Rhine Seniors program. In addition, we host a Thanksgiving dinner for them at Living Faith Community Church. Those who need a ride are picked up and those who can't attend receive food. Our high school students assist with serving food and help with the transport. For this event, we partner with Pastor Gates, Seward Park, Evergreen Towers, and Near North Development.

- At Christmas time, baskets of food, clothing and other items are given out. The recipients include the elderly, families, and others who are needy, if we have enough to go around. The elderly also receive gift certificates.
